A common weak point on the EA81 engine is the factory steel Welch (Core) plugs. Over time, they corrode and allow coolant to mix with the engine oil — often creating the infamous “milkshake” and tricking owners into thinking they have a catastrophic head gasket failure.
These brass replacement plugs resist corrosion far better than the original steel ones and can be replaced without removing the engine.
