FRONT BRAKE/HUB CONVERSION KIT
No kit parts are supplied for this. A modification is required to the lower control arm to accept the EJ lower ball joint. After this is done and the front shock conversion is completed, the EJ knuckle and brakes are a direct bolt-on fit.
The following custom work is also required:
- Control arm reaming (We can do this for you)
- Custom CV axles to suit your build – you can read more info here on our 5 Stud/Brake Conversion Guide.
MASTER CYLINDER CONVERSION KIT
An optional kit is used if you are upgrading your brake master cylinder to work with the larger brakes (NOTE: A master cylinder is required, but is not included in the kit). EJ brake master cylinders with only 2 bottom-facing ports will not need this kit. This kit includes the following:
- New fittings and blanks to suit the most common EJ master cylinders
- Fitting instructions
STEERING SPACERS/RESTRICTORS
An optional kit to be used if your tyres are touching the body at full lock. These restrict the steering rack’s movement to prevent tyres scrubbing. The need for these completely depends on your rim offset and tyre size. This kit includes the following:

- Fitting instructions

CHOOSING A DONOR CAR
Some examples of the best donor vehicles are listed below however you are not limited to these recommendations. By looking at the compatibility chart you will see there are many other combinations that can be made to work.
Eg: An early Liberty is a good match for a non-lifted Brumby, except for the springs and spring top hats. These could be easily swapped off an Impreza or Forester to make them compatible.
- Best for non-lifted: Early Impreza (including WRX) non-ABS models 1994 – 1998. (Can use the struts and springs, All rear brakes are compatible (except drum brake setups). Can use the brake master cylinder and the brake booster)
- Best for 2-inch lifted: SF Forester 1997-2002. (Can use the struts and springs, All rear brakes are compatible. Non-ABS models can use the brake master cylinder but not the brake booster)
EXAMPLES
- Early Subarus 1989 – 2001 without ABS should have a compatible brake master cylinder – check port number and configuration.
- Early Subaru Liberty and Impreza 1989 – 1994 should have a compatible brake booster – check diameter.
- Subaru Impreza 1993 – 2007 front struts, shocks, springs, and spring hats are the best for a Brumby without a lift kit.
- Subaru Foresters and Outbacks have longer struts to suit 2-inch lifted Brumby.
- Early Subaru Liberty has the correct height struts for non-lifted Brumby. However, Libertys have the wrong springs and top spring hat.
NOTE: There are many strut combinations throughout the models. They vary in height. Take special attention when choosing struts and checking your ride height making sure you are not overextending your steering rack or CV axles.
